To determine a student's eligibility to study in Canada, Canadian universities and colleges use a standard Grade Point Average score system. The colleges have formulas for converting Indian divisions to GPA scores.
Aside from academics, students must sit for and pass a variety of standardized entrance exams/tests in order to continue their education in Canada.
The IELTS is one such test (International English Language Testing System). It's a non-native English speaker's standardized English language competence test. TOEFL is another test (Test of English as a Foreign Language). The score should be not under 70-89 as it could get one admission in high ranked universities and colleges.

PTE is also qualified for getting study visas nowadays which should be at least 50 and max 90 to get enrolled in the prestigious colleges in Canada.
